19 to the test at the SCCA Vegas Shootout—a two-day event combining autocross and time trial competition. Here’s what he found after a full weekend of pushing the P1+ on his 2017 Camaro SS 1LE.

Setup: 305/30/19 tires mounted on 19×11 front and 19×12 rear wheels, on a 2017 Camaro SS 1LE with two drivers running across both days. Morning temps started in the low 50s.

Day 1 – Autocross: The P1+ touched pavement for the first time at this event. First runs on cold tires showed some wheel spin, but the grip came in quickly—by the third run, the tires felt fully online and remained consistent. In the afternoon, with higher temps and a proper heat cycle, grip was immediate and confidence was high from the first run. Despite being slightly under-spec’d for the CAMC field, the car pulled off strong finishes, landing 3rd and 4th.

Day 2 – Time Trial: After a calm out lap, the first hot lap showed full grip, and the P1+ held up throughout the day. Both drivers posted consistent times, and the tires only showed a slight falloff later in the session. No issues—just predictable, steady grip from start to finish.

Wear: After 2 days and 2 drivers, wear was solid—especially given how hard 6th-gen Camaros are on front tires. The fronts showed expected wear, while the rears looked even better. Overall, a strong result.

Conclusion: The Vitour P1+ delivered great performance, especially with multiple drivers and warm ambient temps. Confident grip, solid wear, and consistent pace. A top-tier 200tw choice!

Vitour P1 C7 Autocross Feedback

April 24, 2025 Share Share Share

Brad Larson put the Vitour P1s to the test in his C7 Corvette during an Evo School autocross weekend—giving us a clear look at how the tire performs across multiple runs and changing conditions.

The tires were brand new when mounted. As expected, the first run was slick while the mold release wore off—but even then, the P1s were surprisingly quick. By the third run, they felt fully online and stayed consistent for the rest of the session.

After eight runs, the car was parked for a couple of hours before heading out for three more as a simulated event. Here’s what stood out:

  • Mid-corner & transitional grip felt comparable to A052s
  • Power delivery was better—likely due to the wider sizing
  • Steering response was similar to CR-S V2s: lively and direct
  • Heat handling was solid—minimal falloff across repeat runs

Brad noted wanting a bit more front-end authority on corner entry and found that sharp hand speed in transitions could upset the balance. But when everything lined up, the tire performed exceptionally well.

“In that really narrow range of course, temperature, and pressure where A052s shine, the P1s might be just a bit behind. But the P1s have a much, much wider window of peak performance and repeatability—and are now my go-to tires.”

Setup Details:
315/30/18 front on 18×11
345/30/18 rear on 18×12.5
Preferred hot pressures: 32 front / 30 rear

Benchmark:
Brad ran just over a second behind Brian Peters in a C8 Z06 (also on P1s!) on a ~40-second course.

King of the Mountain Recap: Vitour P1 in the Shootout

King of the Mountain Recap: Vitour P1 in the Shootout

August 31, 2025 Share Share Share

The 2025 King of the Mountain autocross shootout brought out some of the fastest cars in grassroots motorsports, and drivers on Vitour P1 tires were right there in the fight.

Vitour Drivers in the Shootout

Day 1 saw plenty of cars on P1s putting down quick runs. By Day 2, the shootout lineup included Brian Peters, Eric Peachey, Andy Urbanski, Dave Schotz, and Jeremiah Thomas. Peters came away with the Super Late class win and finished 2nd overall, while the rest of the Vitour field showed the tire works across a wide range of builds.

How the P1 Handled the Event

Drivers admitted to some hesitation about the P1 in this format, mainly around getting through that first round on cold tires. But once they came up to temp, the P1s lit up—delivering the grip and confidence needed to push deeper into eliminations. That’s what kept Vitour drivers in the mix all the way to the end.

Why King of the Mountain Matters

With its knockout format, King of the Mountain is one of the toughest tests in autocross. Multiple Vitour cars made the finals, backed by a Super Late class win and 2nd overall, putting the P1 at the top of the 200tw fight.

Next stop: Solo Nationals, where Vitour drivers are ready to line up again and keep the momentum rolling!

Vitour P1 vs. The Field: How Do They Stack Up?

August 26, 2025 Share Share Share

When the Vitour P1 hit the market, we knew we were diving into the deep end of grassroots competition: the 200tw class. Since then, racers across the country have been putting them to the test—at autocross events, Time Attack, and HPDEs. So how does the P1 really compare to heavy-hitters like the A052, RE71RS, CR-S, RT660—and even Hoosier’s latest?

Let’s break it down based on real-world feedback from drivers who’ve pushed these tires to the limit.

Heat Matters—But So Does Grip

Let’s get one thing out of the way: the P1s need a bit of heat to turn on. Compared to tires like the A052 or RE71RS, which tend to come on very quickly (and as a result may overheat quickly), the P1 shines once it’s warm. On lightweight cars or cooler mornings, it might take a lap to get them turned on. But once they’re there? The grip is on another level.

“When the P1 is properly turned on, it’s faster. It also offers significantly better tread life and heat tolerance… In heavier or high-power cars that generate a lot of energy, the P1 is at a significant advantage.”

For mid-weight and heavier cars—especially on concrete or warmer asphalt—the P1 activates quickly and delivers lap after lap. Front-wheel-drive drivers have also praised its braking grip, sharp turn-in, and mid-corner stability, saying it matches or outperforms the competition.

Tire Feel: Right in the Sweet Spot

Drivers say the P1 lands right between the sharp, high-feedback feel of Bridgestones and the softer, slower-reacting Yokohamas. For many, it hits the balance they’ve been searching for.

“Great outright grip, direct feel at turn-in and in transitions. It’s fast to the cords and pretty consistent lap after lap.”

Compared to the CR-S, drivers are seeing more consistency, better wear, and a quicker warm-up window. Against the Hoosier TAP, the P1 offers similar pace but lasts longer due to more tread depth—delivering more sessions and more predictable performance over time.

Tread Life: A Clear Advantage

Across nearly every comparison, one thing keeps coming up: the P1 lasts. Whether it’s autocross, Time Attack, or HPDE events, drivers are seeing extended tread life with consistent performance throughout.

On EVs and heavier builds that usually chew through A052s in a weekend, the P1 is holding up much better—while delivering comparable, if not better, lap times once up to temp.

Autocross Tested. Track Proven.

Since becoming legal, the P1 has taken top PAX at multiple national-level events—and it’s increasingly common to see them near the top of the results sheets. But it’s not just about wins. It’s about confidence.

“My 5th run…was my fastest run of the day and was good enough to jump me to the #1 spot in XA.”

Autocrossers consistently report that after a proper scrub and a bit of heat, the P1s aren’t just competitive—they’re winning. And for time trial drivers, the consistency and resistance to heat soak give the P1 a leg up during longer sessions or multiple hot laps.

When it counts, the P1 keeps showing up.

Final Thoughts

The P1 isn’t just a contender—it’s carving out a place at the front of the grid. With proven pace, lasting grip, and sizes to fit everything from Miatas to monsters, the P1 is making its presence known.

The only question left—are you on them yet?
